Palma Ristorante is seeking an experienced, polished, and hospitality-driven Maître d’ / Head Host to join our fine-dining team.
This is not simply a host position. We are looking for someone who understands that the front door sets the tone for the entire dining experience.
The right candidate is confident, professional, personable, highly organized, and genuinely enjoys building relationships with guests.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the host team during service.
- Warmly welcome and recognize guests upon arrival.
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and table assignments.
- Recognize VIPs, regular guests, special occasions, and guest preferences.
- Build relationships with guests and remember names, preferences, and favorite tables.
- Strategically control the flow and pacing of the dining room.
- Communicate closely with management, servers, bussers, bar staff, and the kitchen.
- Handle special requests and challenging seating situations professionally and discreetly.
- Maintain detailed and accurate guest profiles and reservation notes.
- Train hosts on fine-dining hospitality, telephone etiquette, seating procedures, and professional presentation.
- Maintain an immaculate, organized, and welcoming host stand and entrance.
- Personally thank guests as they leave and help build long-term guest relationships.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous experience as a Maître d’, Head Host, or in an upscale or fine-dining restaurant.
- Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest-relations skills.
- Maintains a polished and professional appearance.
- Is comfortable interacting with VIP and high-profile guests.
- Can remain calm, composed, and organized during extremely busy services.
- Understands reservation management, table rotation, and dining-room pacing.
- Has exceptional attention to detail.
- Is a natural leader and a strong team player.
- Understands that genuine hospitality goes far beyond simply seating a table.
